Mechanical Development Engineer

Our client is looking for a motivated and passionate Development Engineer for the Mechanical Design to help shape product development projects for Encoders.

Reporting line – Head of Research & Development

Main responsibilities:

• You will develop mechanical system concepts, development innovative ideas for new technical solutions and detail the models and concepts through to a finished product of your own responsibility
• To contribute to the successful development of new encoders by developing mechanical components and assemblies in our agile and interdisciplinary project teams by being involved in all project phases
• You will take responsibility for individual work packages and coordinate colleagues from various disciplines of the project team for this objective
• To conceptualize the overall mechanical system and the components, calculate and design them and implement them constructively (e.g. housing, bearings, customer interfaces, etc.), taking into account the product and application requirements.
• To define the tests for validation and verification of the mechanical concepts, carry them out and document the results
• To create and maintain the mechanical system requirements and translate the product requirements into mechanical requirements and solutions, derive suitable qualification test and accompany the system and certification tests
• You take manufacturability and manufacturing costs into account and apply methodologies and innovative procedures to achieve the objectives
• Use your technical expertise to development sustainable, future-oriented mechanical concepts and architectures for new products

Profile:

• A degree in mechanical engineering or a comparable qualification
• 2+ years experience in mechanical development and design for electromechanical products in series production
• Excellent knowledge of technical mechanics as well as common and innovative manufacturing and joining processes
• You have proven experience in achieving target manufacturing costs and ensure that manufacturability of your constructions (design-to-cost, Design-to-manufacturability)
• High methodological competence in conception, design and calculation
• In-depth knowledge of MCAD – (SolidEdge, Inventor) as well as PLM systems (2.B. CDB) and ERP (2.B. SAP)
• Experience with agile development methods is beneficial
• Strong communication skills and able to enforce your professional opinion and to inspire others to find solutions in close cooperation in the team. Realise and achieve common goals
• A high degree of commitment, a sense of responsibility and a systematic way of working
