Group Leader Mechanical Engineering

MasterSearch are currently working with a global leader within the Photonics industry with a Presence in over 70 countries. Our client is looking for a goal-orientated Group Leader for a Mechanical Engineering team based across two sites in Germany.

Reporting line – Vice President of R&D

Main responsibilities:

• Technical and disciplinary management as well as targeted further development of the assigned employees
• Responsibility for providing the necessary development resources and competencies in the department to support product developments
• Operational planning and deployment planning of the employees in the group
• Creation and further development of skills in the team
• Development or selection of tools and methodologies for the team as well as definition and implementation of standards
• Ensuring product innovation and safety as well as defined manufacturing costs and a process-reliable production transfer, support with technical problems
• Analysis, conception, construction and industrialisation of opto-mechanical products, devices and assemblies
• Creation of specifications, budgets and technical product documentation in accordance with current standards
• Close cooperation with product management, the specialist skills in product and technology development, production, as well as quality and purchasing in the division
• Support the selection, coordination and professional development of external service providers

Profile:

• Successful completed studies in engineering (mechanical engineering, mechatronics, precision engineering or similar) with a corresponding specialisation in the field of construction
• Bring many years of proven experience and skills in the construction and system development of complex opto-mechatronic modules and components
• Several years of management experience as a team leader or leader of large projects in an industrial environment is advantageous
• Broad and application-proven knowledge of modern R&D processes, methods and tools
• Proven experience in system engineering, project management and project controlling
• Entrepreneurial mindset as well as reliability and strong analytical and conceptual skills
• A customer focused and goal-oriented working style combined with a structure, team focused way of working
• Strong communication skills
